Rainwater Workshop
Come help learn how to install a school rainwater catchment system and garden.
Join Watersprout and Park Day School’s Green Committee, Educators and Students for an informative, fun, hands-on workshop installing a rainwater harvesting system on one of our school buildings. Learn the nuts and bolts of installing a rainwater cistern, as well as how to involve students in the design, installation, and ongoing maintenance. Two rainwater catchments projects are being installed at Park Day this fall, funded by a parent-led Spring Greening Initiative and a Community Stewardship grant from the Alameda County Clean Water Program. The fifth grade class is studying watersheds and will be actively involved in the design and installation of the rainwater system. First graders will also participate by planting a small rainwater garden including fruit trees and native plants. Two larger 1500 gallon rainwater cisterns will be installed this fall by parent volunteers in the school, to supply water to the school’s growing mini-farm.
$10 covers workshop fee and lunch. Register at http://www.parkdayschool.org/ or https://www.mypaynetapps.com/pay.php?item=270113171401117653684862271.
